Erik Salemke, 38, of Bridgewater, a pedestrian, was struck on Thursday night as he crossed Interstate 287, according to police. According to Trooper Charles Marchan of the New Jersey State Police (NJSP), a Bridgewater man was killed on Thursday night after being struck by an automobile, then run over by a tractor-trailer as he attempted to cross Interstate 287.New Jersey State Troopers were alerted to a car accident on I-287 North near milepost 21.8 in Bedminster Township just before 9:30 p.m. April said.According to a preliminary inquiry, a pedestrian named Erik Salemke, 38, of Bridgewater, was struck by an unidentified vehicle that did not stop as he crossed I-287 North in the vicinity of 21.8, stated Marchan.Salemke was already down on the road after being struck by the unknown car when a Volvo tractor-trailer was traveling north on I-287 and struck her, according to Marchan.Salemke was injured in the collision and passed away as a result, according to Marchan.There is currently no additional information available since the crash is still being investigated.
